The owners of Inspired Ornamental have built the best team in the industry with a combined 50 years of experience in the decorative plaster field. The artisans still use traditional methods of producing and installing decorative plaster, in fact many of the same methods that were originally brought from Europe to this country are still being used today.
Inspired Ornamental offers a vast array of services. The artisans have extensive experience in model and mold making as well. They have created models for everything from small pre cast items such as balusters to large scale models for fiber glass exterior molding.
The Inspired Ornamental team has designed and installed hundreds of projects throughout Boston’s Back Bay, Beacon Hill, the South End and all the surrounding communities. The Artisans at Inspired Ornamental are able to create custom plaster moldings in three ways:
Molding that can be run in place on a wall
Molding that can run on a 90 degree run bench
Plaster molding that is cast in a mold
The most common installation of plaster molding is run on a 90 degree run bench in eight foot lengths at the shop and then installed on site.
This is our passion
15 Warren St, Lowell MA
This was a large restoration project for a non profit located in Lowell Ma. The building was an old Elks Lodge that was built in 1923. It is believed that the decorative plaster work was original to the building. The plaster crown molding and ceiling were restored as well as existing medallion. Sections of the radius crown were removed and new radius pieces run and installed. The medallion center was spun and radius arm recreated and installed.
408 Meridian St, East Boston MA
Roughly 40 feet of plaster crown molding, ceiling and wall had to be removed due to water damage. Our team was able to match everything perfectly. We cut custom knives to match the crown molding, picture rail and ceiling astragal. Molds were also created so new enrichments could be cast to match existing. After paint the staff at the Meridian House was unable to tell where the old molding turned into new. Job well done.
Decorative Plaster Ceiling, Newton Ma
Inspired Ornamental LLC was tasked to replicate an existing ceiling in the same home. We had to scale the existing pattern to the new space. Three models were created to replicate the decorative plaster ceiling. Molds were made of the models and we were able to cast. The castings were fastened to the ceiling and then pointed in. This decorative plaster ceiling detail ties into a custom plaster crown molding that wraps the inside of the tray ceiling.
Decorative Plaster Ceiling, Weston Ma
Inspired Ornamental LLC designed, fabricated and installed this decorative plaster ceiling for a sitting room in Weston Ma. We were able to create this ceiling from a photo from a magazine. The model was scaled to the space to create the pattern. 36 castings were cast and installed on this particular decorative plaster ceiling.
Cabot Theater Beverly Ma
Inspired Ornamental LLC had the pleasure of working at one of the areas most beautiful spaces The Cabot Theater. The Cabot Theater suffered severe water damage to it’s decorative plaster ceiling and dome. We were able remove and clean the affected area. We profiled the existing moldings to cut knives to replicate and created brush-on molds to cast new enrichments to match existing. Parts were fabricated, brought to site and installed. Parts were stuck and moldings pointed in.
St. Mary Church, Newmarket NH
Inspired Ornamental had the pleasure of producing three new Arches for St. Mary Church along with new pilasters and several new capitals on the altar. Existing details were incorporated into the design and fabrication of the new arches and pilasters.
43 Commonwealth Ave Boston Ma
This project came about because of severe water damage to the existing crown molding. About 20 ft of original crown molding had to be removed and new molding fabricated and installed to match. A profile knife was cut and molding run. A sample of Egg and Dart was cleaned and prepped for rubber so that a mold could be made to cast from.
